Irene Pérez (Santander, 1996) is an artist who graduated in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU (2018). Her work offers a psychological portrait of contemporary society. Through both figurative and abstract languages, she explores the hidden realities that remain within us and are often difficult to externalize. Depression, anxiety and frustration are some of the psychological states reflected in her paintings through textures and layered surfaces, often accompanied by the realistic figure of a man in a suit as a symbol of success and power. Her practice seeks to make visible what is imperceptible to the eye: those emotions and inner conflicts that, despite their discomfort, are an essential part of personal growth, evolution and learning. Her work primarily focuses on the concepts of Success and Resilience, exploring the idea that failure and setbacks are as inevitable as they are necessary. “Accepting and confronting adverse situations in order to learn from them is also a triumph.” Currently based between Spain and London, Irene is seeking to establish herself within the London art scene while continuing to develop her artistic practice and pursue new creative projects, collaborations and exhibition opportunities.
